Slugs

We learned that slugs don't have a shell like snails.  Many friends have seen a slug before.  They like the slippery trail a slug leaves behind!

Story time "Snake Supper"

Today we listened to the story " Snake Supper". We learned that good readers make predictions. We listened to what was happening in the story. Then we predicted what we thought might happen, three people were able to predict what they thought would happen next.

Reading, listening and predicting.... Skills we are working on.

Sports and music

We are investigating sports we enjoy playing in the summer months. Soccer seems to be a favourite.
In music class we are exploring rhythm. We used Popsicle sticks to create ta's and ti - ti's to represent the rhythm.

fabulous Friday!

We have had a busy week. Today we created structures out of strips of paper. You could bend it, twirl it, fold it then glue it to your paper. Buildings were built from Lego and magnetic blocks. The dramatic centre has transformed into a Diner, we have a chef, servers, diners and even a drink machine.
Water play was available for investigating frogs, gems and lily pads.
We did journal writing as well.

Have a wonderful long weekend! Happy Victoria Day!

Scientists in School

Scientist Janice arrived this morning to lead our science workshop.  We spent almost two hours with hands-on exploring and experimenting!  A few favourites were the constellation tent, digging for dinosaur bones, mixing materials in test tubes, and feeling a real octopus with gloves on.  A huge thank you to Mrs. Andres, Mrs. Hofer, Mrs. Osman, and Mrs. Belluz for helping run the centres.

Piñatas

We are learning that in Mexico, they use piñatas at parties and special occasions. Our classroom designed piñatas, took a group vote and decided on a butterfly and monster truck for our piñatas. We all worked on completing the piñatas. As well as making miniature ones for ourselves.
