Planting seeds

Today we planted seeds.

We learned the steps to planting a seed.

1.  Fill container with soil.

2. Add seed.

3. Cover seed with more soil.

4. Put in sunny spot.

5. Water plant.

6. Watch it grow!

Birthday Party Centre

We have begun transforming our drama centre into a birthday party!  Some children made invitations using the days of the week.

Days of the Week

We are learning about the 7 days of the week.  Discuss with your child special days of the week for them (swimming lessons, gymnastics, etc.).

Easter Activities

We were busy this morning making bunny baskets and painting egg designs.

Our class has been working on Easter words, printing and patterning.

It's been egg-citing!

Walking trip

We went on our first walking trip today. We walked to the community mailboxes to mail out letter. Be sure to check your mail box for an important letter.

Beach Day

Station 24 visits

Due to the rainy weather we cancelled our walking trip to the Fire Station. However, the Firefighters visited us! We got to go inside the truck to see where the captain and other firefighters sit. They showed us all the compartments on the side of the truck where emergency tools we stored, the axes, jaws of life, fire hoses and emergency supplies.

We had a great visit! Thank you Waterdown Station 24!

Beach Day!

This Friday, March 11, will be a school wide Beach Day to get us all in the mood for the nicer weather.  Your child can come to school wearing sunglasses, sun hats, and colourful shirts. Bring on the warm weather and sunshine!

Investigating money

We continue to investigate money. We have been using it at our post office to purchase. We have also been sorting and classifying it. We have sorted by colour, size and amount. We have sorted by the picture on the coin too!

Another Community Helper Visit

We have been so fortunate to have many community helpers visit our classroom and explain their job to us.  Be sure to stop by our hallway to see photos of all of our visitors!  This morning the children were able to try out a stethoscope brought in by a paediatric nurse.  

Interesting Painting Tools

Some children experimented with different painting tools today.  Ask your child if he/she painted using a toothbrush!

Delivering the Mail

After our visit from the local mail carrier, many children are now inspired to deliver letters and packages!
